To all Department of Florida American Legion Family Members,

Today at a news conference Governor Rick Desantis announced that he was signing an Executive Order moving into Phase 2 of Florida's reopening. I have placed a few slides from his presentation below. You can download the entire presentation by clicking the button below or by clicking on any one of the slides.

Today the Governor also issued Executive Order Number 20-139 (Phase 2: Safe. Smart. Step-by-Step. Plan for Florida's Recovery) which in a nutshell allows our American Legion Posts to REOPEN!

The complete Executive Order is below and if you click on it or on the button below the order you can download it to your computer and read it in its entirety. It is only four pages long.

  • Section 4. Business Activity, subparagraph A. states the following verbatim:

Restaurants and other establishments, and bars and other vendors licensed to sell alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises, may operate at fifty (50) percent of their indoor capacity, excluding employees, as under Executive Order 20-123, Section 1. Bar areas may be open with seated service. In addition, outdoor seating is permissible with appropriate social distancing. This section does not apply to nightclubs. Non-conflicting provisions in Executive Order 20-71, Sections 1 and 2 remain in effect.

STATE OF FLORIDA
Office of the Governor
Executive Order Number 20-139

Now is the perfect time to get ready for the day we have all been waiting for - WHICH IS ONLY TWO DAYS AWAY!

We will have to prepare for a new normal such as social distancing and multiple cleaning and sanitizing of surfaces. Nothing we can't handle!

Some of the items that you might want to consider and this list is by no means all inclusive and simply a suggestion:
  • pre-opening maintenance of equipment (A/C, water lines, refrigerators, ice makers, etc.)
  • procedures for the safety of members once opened
  • procedures for the safety of workers once opened
  • purchase of hand sanitizer and face masks for workers and members?
  • review of insurance policies and coverage with your insurance professional
  • review of licenses and expiration dates

I look forward to visiting you all shortly and seeing how you are doing and thanking you for what you continue to do for our Veterans, their families and the positive impact you are making on our communities.

Please be safe, take care of your family, take care of each other and let's get through this together, as a family, working together as a unified TEAM. God Bless you all.
